4-7-8 Breathing
Also known as: Relaxing breath
documented
Breathwork
Inhale four, hold seven, exhale eight — a strongly exhale-weighted pattern popularised as a wind-down ritual.
What this practice covers
A single breath pattern with a fixed proportion. The counts are a ratio, not a law: halve them all and it is the same practice.
Yarra’s note. Pattern-specific research is thin. We describe the mechanism — a long exhale — and decline to promise the outcome.
